Green Building Demonstration Center

In addition to its academic purposes, the Porter School of Environmental Studies (PSES) Building serves as a demonstration center for the implementation of green building principles. The demonstration center was developed as part of an extensive collaboration with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, which included varied activities to promote and assimilate green building issues into Israeli academia.

The PSES Building presents green building standards and sets an example for planning processes and decision making in environmental architecture, thus advancing public awareness in Israel to issues of environment, sustainability and green building.

In addition to the information available on this website, green building issues and practices are presented to extensive and varied audiences, by an array of informative tools and guided tours of the PSES Building. Groups touring the building include architects and other planning and construction professionals, architecture students, formal delegations, pupils, organizations holding events in the building, as well as other visitors who are interested in green building and other sustainability issues. During the tours, comprehensive information is provided about the building's planning principles, its architectural and green elements and the integrated technological systems.

Some of the unique technologies installed in the building are being used in Israel for the first time, and have been selected not merely for their energy efficiency qualities, but with the intention of using them to demonstrate, educate and disseminate pioneering knowledge in the field of green building.
