We are pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel Mishori was appointed as a senior faculty member in the parallel track of the Porter School of Environmental Studies, jointly with the Department of Geography.
Dr. Mishori specializes in environmental philosophy and ethics. Since he was awarded his PhD at the Tel Aviv University, he has been teaching in the university's department of Philosophy, the Porter School of Environmental Studies (PSES) since it was established, and the Recanati School of Management (business ethics). Daniel is a social and environmental activist, former Chair of the Israel Bicycle Association and is an alumnus of the Heschel Sustainability Center's Fellowship program.
Dr. Mishori's research addresses issues relating to epistemology, argumentation and ethics, including the relationship between the environment and lifestyle, bioethics, public space, shared property and commons. In 2012 he co-edited a book on Abusive Employment. Daniel's position at PSES is in the framework of a joint appointment with the Department of Geography at the Tel Aviv University.
Since it was established, PSES has been cooperating with more than a hundred researchers from a broad spectrum of academic fields, both within the Tel Aviv University and elsewhere. The school has also been actively pursuing to attract new researchers to PSES and the university, to develop a variety of aspects pertinent to environmental studies. In the coming year PSES is expected to appoint a second member of faculty, either in environmental health (as a joint appointment with the Sackler Faculty of Medicine) or in environmental engineering, water resources and energy (as a joint appointment with the Engineering Faculty).
