The Fashion Revolution Day in Israel took place May 8th, 2017 at the Porter School of Environmental Studies building.

The remarkable event was led by Fashion Revolution Israel Project Manager, Brittney Hofbauer and co-organized by Dani Zakon, an International MA alumni at the Porter School of Environmental Studies & Founder of eco-fashion marketplace Marraskesh.

It started with a grand gathering, clothing swap and an exhibition that had also student designs, followed by a short movie at the auditorium that provided an instightful behind-the-scenes glimpse at the modern fashion industry and an opportunity to see the actual makers of our clothes.  #whomademyclothes.

The audience enjoyed insightful keynotes by Yair Engel, founder & director at Kayama Center for Sustainable Design and a lecturer at the Department of Textile Design at Shenkar College of Engineering, Nana Frishling, a human rights lawyer and PhD Candidate specializes in business and human rights, seeking to improve the human rights impacts of global apparel supply chains and Michal Arbel-Levy, an ex-fashion reporter who investigates the environmental effects of fast fashion.

Next followed a grand fashion show, featuring original sustainable fashion Israeli designs by Shay Schneidermann, the Brazilian-Israeli designer Mauricio Pollacsek, Rossello Shmaria Bags and Two Neighbours, an Israeli-Palestinian studio where Israeli and Palestinian designers show beautiful apparel, combining in perfect harmony Palestinian delicate embroidery and Israel urban minimalist design.

We are so proud of Dani, our student and alumni for initiating and co-producing this remarkable evening. This event and similar are so important to increase the awareness to responsible, fairtrade and sustainable fashion design, manufacturing and consumption.
