Dr. Omer Polak finished his PhD in Ben- Gurion University of the Negev, Eilat Campus. His thesis involved the research of the ecological and socioeconomic aspects of constructing Artificial Reefs in the waters of the Red Sea. Dr. Polak holds a Msc. in coral reef research on the reproductive biology of a coral-like zoanthid from Tel Aviv University and a bachelor in fish agriculture from Hebrew University.
Dr. Polak’s research interests are the ecology of fish and corals, marine restoration, and urban ecology with emphasis on coastal and marine interactions.
Dr. Polak is affiliated with Ben- Gurion University of the Negev, Eilat Campus academic staff teaching Marine Conservation. He taught Ecology and general sciences for teachers in Seminar Kibbutzim College. Dr. Polak was also the first Mimshak fellow at the Ministry of Transportation as an environmental consultant to the chief scientist. He also teaches high school children Marine Aquaculture and Marine Biology.
He currently resides in the Arava valley near Eilat, with his wife and two children.
